Our Values

All that we say and do is meant to honor God. We commit to being honest and ethical. We commit to being good stewards of the resources we manage.

We commit to honor everyone we encounter in our daily work, including:

  • Associates. We strive to serve our associates by providing meaningful work in a positive environment. We strive to provide opportunities for professional growth, service, and balance with other life priorities.

  • Customers. We strive to serve our customers with respect, friendliness, and competence.

  • Partners and Vendors. We strive to create positive relationships and interactions with each person and organization we encounter.

  • Community. We strive to impact our community by providing time, expertise, and financial resources to worthy causes.

We will do our best to serve others with excellent products and services. We will continually work to improve our product and service quality.

We strive to create the profitability needed for VistaShare’s long-term survival and growth. We will forego a larger profit when necessary to meet our other values.

Powered by the Sun

In 2017, VistaShare became one of the first businesses in our home city of Harrisonburg, Virginia to install solar panels. Now, most of our building, servers, and work, is powered by the sun, creating no air pollution or greenhouse gases.

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer Daryl Myers initiated the effort after installing solar panels on his home. Installation on the offices would be a bigger, more complicated, and lengthier process, but Co-Founder and President Dave Smucker agreed the effort would be worth it.

"It was a good investment, and good business, and I enjoyed the technical challenge, but we also felt like it was another expression of our company’s values,” Daryl explained. “Our staff are also conscientious about these issues and we knew they would appreciate it; and knowing our customers as we do, we believed that certainly would be true for them as well.”

“There were grants available, and tax credits, and we earned our investment back within five years," Daryl said. “Using net metering, we’re billed when we have to draw power from the electrical grid, but we’re credited when we create more energy than we use, and then our surplus goes back onto the grid.”

By 2024, 75% of our office building's power comes from clean solar energy, including our servers, and even a charging station for cars, putting us ahead of state and national renewable energy goals. We believe this accomplishment is a testament to our values, as well as a reflection of our customers’ missions of community that we are honored to help serve with Outcome Tracker.
